About

Dial F for Freelancer is the go to platform for film exhibition and film distribution freelancers. Not only is it a place for resources and advice, it is also an ace directory of the best in the business.

So whether you’re a freelancer wanting to join our directory or looking for someone special to elevate your next project, campaign or release then you’re in the right place.

History

Are you ready? Then we’ll begin…

In 2019 at an industry conference, many of us discussed the lack of a formal network for freelancers working in Film Exhibition and Distribution and so the seed was sown..

Fast forward to March 2020, a trio of us were frustrated that there was no central point of information on support for those who were self employed as the Covid-19 pandemic unfolded.

In response to this we created the UK Film Exhibition & Distribution Freelancer Network Facebook Group to bring together our colleagues from different disciplines to share advice, news and generally to offer support where possible.

We soon realised that we had greater ambitions for the group and were determined that our previous discussions on creating a proper network should be the legacy of our work.

Cut to summer 2020…we applied for a Community Grant from the Film + TV Charity to create a digital platform which would not only showcase our sector’s talent but also be a place to share job opportunities and connect with fellow freelancers for peer to peer support as well as signpost services and training from industry organisations.

So as you’ve probably realised by now, we got the funding (!) and that is how Dial F for Freelancer was born.

Our hope is that this platform shines a spotlight on all our wonderful Film Exhibition & Distribution peers; connecting with each other and potential new clients as well as becoming an inclusive community to support and lift each other up.

This project is predominantly volunteer run, we couldn’t have done it without our steering group – so a massive thank you to Aaron Guthrie, Anna Kime, Annabel Grundy, Donna Bamford-Pringle and Lauren Clarke for their time, support and expertise in creating this platform.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our funders – the Film Distributors Association (FDA) and The Film and TV Charity (via their Community Grants), as well as industry support from Altitude Film Entertainment, Bohemia Media and eOne for contributing to Dial for F!

And now it’s time for the main feature…go explore!
